MasterMac Honda rider Charlie Nesbitt strengthened his growing reputation in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship by delivering three more impressive performances over the weekend.

With Lee Jackson picking up three good results of his own, it was a high-scoring meeting for the team as they made the short trip to Donington for the penultimate round of the Bennetts BSB season.

Nesbitt was mixing it with the title contenders in the early stages of Saturday’s opening race when he took a painful blow from a chain that had come off another bike, but he recovered well from the incident to finish sixth.

His form then continued into Sunday when he spent the first of two races as part of the lead group, eventually coming home fifth, before another fine effort sealed him seventh in the final race.

Jackson - fresh from his four recent podium finishes - was also undeterred by the chilly September conditions and finished well into the points-scoring places each time, securing eight, seventh and ninth respectively in the three races.

That wasn’t all for the team, as Tim Neave returned to ride in the Pirelli National Superstock with Moneybarn Vehicle Finance championship. He brought his MasterMac Honda home in sixth and eighth in the two races.

Looking back on the weekend, team manager Steve Hicken said:

“This was a really good round for us, consistently competing high up the field and continuing the momentum we built up over the summer.
“Charlie had some bad luck in the last round and it’s great to see him bounce back in the best possible way to remind everyone he’s a really capable young rider.
“And Lee was once again reliably quick to build up his points total and maintain his position in the riders’ championship.
“With Tim performing well too it was a great all-round effort and we’ll now aim for a strong finish to the season at Brands Hatch.”

Their exploits at Donington mean Jackson remains seventh in the overall Bennetts BSB standings, while Nesbitt moves up two places to ninth.

The final round at Brands Hatch in Kent takes place from 11-13 October.
