MasterMac Honda announce Nesbitt and McPhee for 2025 title challenge

Former Moto3 and World Supersport rider John McPhee will join rising star Charlie Nesbitt to form MasterMac Honda’s rider line-up for the 2025 Bennetts British Superbike Championship.McPhee moves to the premier domestic superbike series after spending more than a decade on the world scene, with highlights including four Moto3 race wins. The 30-year-old from Oban in Scotland has spent the last two seasons in World Supersport and will now return to the UK for his first experience of superbike racing.

Meanwhile 23-year-old Nesbitt will aim to build on his growing reputation - and a steadily increasing tally of points and podium finishes - as he enters his third full season in Bennetts BSB.The team, based at Mallory Park circuit in Leicestershire, will continue to use Honda Fireblade machinery and again carry MasterMac Surfacing as its title sponsor.

McPhee said:

I’ve had the privilege of racing at world level for a long time, and Bennetts BSB presents a new and exciting challenge for me. This championship has everything you want as a rider, with the quality of the racing, the variety of circuits and great support from the fans. I’m delighted to be joining one of the most experienced and successful teams on the grid, and can’t wait to get started.”

Nesbitt, a former British Moto3 and GP2 champion who hails from Swindon, said:

With the experience of two full seasons on the superbike and a great team around me I’m very optimistic about what we can achieve in 2025. We hit a really good rhythm in the second half of last season and I felt more and more at home competing near the front for the podium places. Hopefully we’ll continue the momentum into the new season and make it our best together so far

It’s the 27th year in the championship for Hawk Racing, the team behind MasterMac Honda. Team manager Steve Hicken said:

It’s sure to be a competitive championship as always, and I’m very happy to have two high calibre riders on board. John brings so much valuable experience and ability, although in some ways he’ll be on a steep learning curve too, while Charlie just needs to keep working hard to push himself towards the top of the leaderboard more consistently. With thanks to MasterMac, our other sponsors and the wider team, we’ll have a competitive package and aim to cause a few surprises.”

The eleven-round, 33-race Bennetts BSB season kicks off at Oulton Park from 3-5 May 2025 and visits circuits across the UK - plus Assen in the Netherlands - before concluding at Brands Hatch in October.
