MasterMac Honda’s Lee Jackson capped off a fine weekend’s racing with his best result of the season to date in the latest round of the Bennetts British Superbike championship.
The Lincolnshire rider delivered a hat-trick of strong results at Brands Hatch, peaking with an impressive sixth-place finish in the closing feature race.
The 28-year-old looked in good shape all weekend, taking a hard-fought eighth in Saturday’s opening race and improving to seventh in the first of two races on Sunday. He came out on top in a number of battles early on in the third race before opening up a big gap behind him to seal sixth.
Unfortunately his teammate Charlie Nesbitt had to retire from the opening race following a technical issue but he bounced back to take tenth place and then ninth in Sunday’s races around the spectacular Kent circuit.
Nesbitt, 23, now sits tenth in the overall standings - the youngest rider in the top ten - with Jackson close behind in 12th.
Steve Hicken, MasterMac Honda team manager, said:
“Lee is a really talented rider and, while he’s had to take time to adapt to what’s a new bike for him this year, it’s great to see his hard work bearing fruit with results like these.
“We’re at the half way stage in the season now and hopefully he’ll be able to kick on from here and move further up the standings.
“Charlie was unlucky on Saturday but he’s been consistent all season and did well on Sunday to maintain his place in the top ten overall.”
Thanks as always to all of our sponsors and fans for your continuing support.
The whole team will be back on the road in less than three weeks’ time when our Bennetts BSB campaign continues at Thruxton from 9-11 August.
